To answer your question... Although white suburbia tends to be ignorant, racist and apathetic, they should not be lumped together with the ruling class of this country. Many people, including those on this forum, seem to be implying that the white race as a whole in America is holding down the brown people, which is completely ludicrous because white suburbia is for the most part completely clueless about how the world actually works.

I guess it all comes down to classism being mistaken for racism. The elite ruling class created a divide among different races in this country hundreds of years ago, when white "indentured servants" were still working in the fields alongside the black slaves. It was the only way for them to have complete control over the lower class - Divide and conquer.

This division still exists today, even though the racism has subsided, as a division by class. Instead of banding together against the rich elites, we involve ourselves with petty arguments about skin color, which is exactly what they want us to do.

It aggravates me seeing people post comments like "This is OUR problem (our, as in the black race) and we don't want the "neighbors" (neighbors, as in white people) solving OUR family problem." I'm a white dude that grew up in the suburbs, trying to expand my knowledge of different cultures within my own country and the world, trying to involve myself in activism and make the world a better place, and people are telling me that its none of my business to take part in solving humanity's problems because I came out of a white vagina?
