yeah my bro. i was building on this issue a few days ago,...asking the question...if Black women are so "Independent and Successful", and at least 70% of black households are headed by black women, why our communities are in such dire straits?,... could it be that the so-called "independence" that black women claim is working against the established natural order? by natural order, i mean Gender specific roles, ...that have to be re-established. its not to say women can't engage in successful careers,.. i for one come from a family where women held down work, as well as, being nurturing mothers in the home. good job at identifying the Black-female ego.
I have a lot of female supporters.. but .. I can't help but say i agree with much of what is said in this video..
my only real concern here is that u have a slew of cats that are coming out with this Anti Black Women bashing .. real heavy..
and i am interested in getting the psychology behind it,... I know why i am lent to it from time to time.. but i'm curious if it's a shared experience
I'm reposting my response to a previous posting of this on facebook. In addition to what is below, a lot of Sistas are stubborn and we have to be more willing to be humble and allow a man (who is fulling his responsibilities as such) to be a man.
1) I've seen this before. The blame game is very old and not productive or solution-oriented. WE have to work together...the man is as much responsible as the womb-man. We can not do it on our own. In Maat (Truth, Balance, Reciprocity) is the only we will make it together.
2) I actually just had this same conversation with a sister with other day, but her stance was that the Black man has dissappeared and forsaken his family. I had to tell her the same, if we do not have mercy on each other, be gentle with each other and work toward solutions we will continue to ... be disenfranchised from within. We have been through so much as Black people in the Amerikas, we don't now need to be each others enemy. Every King must support his Queen, take care of his family and assist in righting the wrongs. I Love my people...we've been through so much! Word.
3) A comment from Metu: When you're examining a systemic problem, blaming the individual is the first thing that the slow minded tend to do. It takes a swift mind to analyze the whole field, each and every angle, from a non-bias point of view, rather than blaming the obvious fall guy or fall woman.
Thanks you legacy/Metu
that was a real build.. I have to say that i love the balance in your responses and the fact that it seems well thought out and very even handed.. speaks volumes about what u as individuals and a unit are about.
This so true! I believe it coming to bite black women in the butt! I love my Afrikan women! but you can not continue to bash black men without some backlash. Afrikan women have to take a deeeeeep look within themselves and seeing some what cause this to happen to them. Their are very good black men out there, but you run them off as well when this black men trying his best to treat Afrikan women right!!
Afrikan men are of tired of the "Yall Niggas ain't shit"syndrome! Ever time i look at an afrikan woman whether in store, mall or anywhere else and kindly say hello or hi! I get this evil look like why are you talk me for NIGGA!! All was just saying HELLO not have sex with you! damn!
The Brotha’ in the video series raised a very important issue. The condition of the Black Woman. We all know that the Black Woman is the Queen of the Earth, Goddess of the Universe. We are all aware of this fact. All humans of all other races come from her womb, DNA, etc. Therefore every other woman of every other race must bow to their natural, Mother, Queen, and Goddess. They must give their Goddess her respect, praise and glory.
In her present state of condition with her being unaware of her Nature, and Title, she is acting and existing on an, uncivilized level of existence, doing all of the things aforementioned in this video series. Since she is the property of the open enemy, we as Black Men must reclaim her. We as Black Men are potentially Gods, but since we are so far from our natural state, we pray to the Supreme Being. Therefore it is our duty in our quest to become like God to help the Supreme Being civilize our Queens and our Nation.
When we come into knowledge of our own, it is our duty to perform the Will of the Creator to bring everything back into its natural state, which is why we were given knowledge of our Nature.
Why is the focus on the Black Woman?
I believe it is because she is our Nation and the first teacher of our children and the representative of our future. We educate her, all of us are educated, we civilize her, all of us are civilized, we bring her back into her natural state, all of us are brought back into our natural state. Then we take over. Our enemies bow to their Mommy and Daddy.
Then we rule the Earth again. :)
Hmmmm, Plight of the Black Woman. Something to think about fa sho’.
I agree Cliff. The Black Man and Black Woman are reflections of each other. If the Black Woman is in shambles, we are saying that so is the Black Man. Black Man reclaim your woman! We need you all as much as you need us! Black Woman , reclaim your TRUE AND NATURAL Self! WHERE ARE YOU BLACK MAN?! I would hope you're not talking about the Black woman from the side lines.....ha! If you in the struggle there is no separation and we must see and implement the Balance!
On another note, the masses don't speak for all of us and this video was made according to what is seen in the state of the mass of Black women. Truthfully, I can not say that the masses are a reflection of who I am nor that I have the patience to deal with people who haven't picked up certain basics to the "game". I like use the analogy that we are in a WAR, if you don't know how to tie your shoes, you will always trip and be in the hands of the enemy. We can not save nor convince everyone and that is just the fact of the matter. On top of that, like attracts like, so...if you're men think they are so much better than certain women, then why are you not attracting the women of your calliber!
We all need to RE-EVALUATE OURSELVES and stop passing the buck!
Sis..you asked "where is The Balck man"..?, ...he is here where he has been all along fighting in the trenches. I have a problem with your statement...a lot of Sistas are stubborn and we have to be more willing to be humble and allow a man (who is fulling his responsibilities as such) to be a man., this is exactly what the bro was try'n to convey, that there is something wrong with the Black Woman's Psyche..her Ego.. A Man is who he is regardless of a woman's humility. A woman doesn't " Allow" a man to be a man,...take a step back and understand what the bro. is critiquing...behavior and choices, i don't see where he's blaming black women, i see him say'n let's look at this situation, and figure out how to correct it, ...
their is a division by design. there's too much pain on both sides for us to communicate properly right now. we have to address these issues amongst ourselves, men with men and women with women, there has to be a healing process b4 we reconstruct that balance we're all yearning for....
This is an excerpt from Metu Neter Vol. 1, by Ra Un Nefer Amen...
It is an indisputable fact that women as a whole have a lower metabolic rate, and a higher parasympathetic output than men. The parasympathetic nervous system governs reproduction, gestation, and the trance states. These are the principles upon which women's roles in traditional African culture are defined. Activites that overstimulate the sympathetic nervous system (military.hunting, those requiring aggressiveness), or diminish the capacities of the parasymphatetic functions were discouraged in women. The toll to be paid is in the reduction of the quality of childbearing, social peace and harmony, and spiritual inspiration. Participation in African and Oriental rituals will reveal that women in general can enter into the states of trance with greater ease than men. This is why societies that utilize trance working in their religious practices have a greater appreciation and respect for women, and protect their capacity for prophetic inspiration by safeguarding them from such activities as soldiering, policing, etc.
Bro, believe me, I get it and in some sense we are saying the same thing in a different way. When I used the word "allow" it is because many women don't allow a man to be a man...this is ONE of the reasons why so many men decide to leave the child and mother rather than stay and deal with the mother and work it out....or is it assumed that when a man leaves it is all due to the woman? So, yes, men who are not allowed or given a chance to lead in their role often turn away or supress their manhood...the humility and willingness of the woman plays a huge role in the man fulfilling his role and vice verse. This has less to do with who the man is and more to do with how he implements who he is.
Secondly, when I said Where is the Black Man???, it is the imply that perhaps this same man that made this video, should make a video for the brothers. I am curious as to why brothers are not mentioned as a part of the so-called problem in these videos? ....that to me is really curious. In addition, if he were going to do such a lengthy critique, I'd think he'd mention something about HOW we got to this point and the solution that can be obtained from the UNITY of the Black Man AND Woman.
I agree with the statement about roles and all that...but, the fact of the matter is that as women we are forced in many ways to carry on the traditional roles of the man, i.e. working out side of the home and providing significant income for the family, therefore, we can do our best in this day in time as a family unit to maintain the traditional roles, but we are dealing with different circumstance and we really have to be creative in all of our moves forward. Roles now have to be shared. If I"m out working 10 hours a day, my husband must bathe and dress the children, help clean the dishes or whatever is worked out between the two in the relationship. And that means that women have to work even more diligently in maintaining her natural balance through time with herself, which, frankly, is challenging to do with a family. We have to be practical here...
My point in hand is that there is no one player to blame or critique as you put it (you would have seen that from my first response). On a team no one player is critiqued, right? We are all in the game TOGETHER! There has to be BALANCE and, in my opinion, that video and its critique of women's behavior and choices is not balanced at all.
Any man that points out the faults of women without mentioning their role in the solution needs to check himself. It is unjust to even discuss this situation without mentioning both sides and the historical context that we are dealing with. Our Sistas have been raising family solo for a long while now....this is not all on Sistas....again, I'll say Where Is the Man? I want to see the 30 minute critique/build of that question, combined with this video with men an women in the room....
That would surely be a heated discussion! (smiling) I love my people! We have been through so much and yes, we need to Do a lot of ACTIVE healing....TOGETHER! IN MAAT...as ONE. May we all live according to our Ideals and Implement the Solutions we know will maintain Balance, Harmony and Unity in our communities. Ashe'!
i don't see any purpose in having mentioned anything about black men if your critiquing Black Women. with the constant bashing that black men get from not only our women but from external communities as well, it's refreshing to see a diff perspective. it's a conversation long over due....
your exemplifying exactly what the bro in his video was talking about..." Any man that points out the faults of women without mentioning their role in the solution needs to check himself. It is unjust to even discuss this situation without mentioning both sides and the historical context that we are dealing with."...why because you say so..? Black Women can't be held accountable for their behavior and choices they make..? there goes that ego...lol..! ...I feel your pain and i respect your position!
I'll end on an anecdotal conclusion,.. i remember during the late eighties and early nineties how books on Black culture and history was being sold up and down Midtown,NYC. but by the late nineties and early 2000, those books were replaced by books about hot ghetto mess. all that ghetto drama that all of us knew by first hand knowledge. I used to ask sis on the train and buses.."why you reading that mess..? no real substantive responses other than their girl told them about it, or it was entertaining something to read while commuting to and from work. These books were purposely marketed to black women,...and they ate up like cornbread after Church on sunday.!!
I'll end by saying that I give a million thanks for my King. Your analysis is so FRAGMENTED, just as the video's. Nothing can be looked at from one side, I don't care if it's an attempt to tit for tat....it is not in Maat, creates EVEN MORE IMBALANCE and for you to quote the Metu Neter I would think that you would know that. This conversation actually reminds me of some of the converstaions I've had with people regarding Hip Hop. Some are quick to blame the individual artist for corrupting the communities...the picture is much LARGER than that, as is the picture when dealing with the state of our communities.
May we all live according to our Ideals and Implement the Solutions we know will maintain Balance, Harmony and Unity in our communities and families. Ashe'!
